In mid October, Melbourne musician Anthony Atkinson will release Broken Folks, his first album in eight years. Formerly of The Mabels, Atkinson is backed by The Running Mates (featuring members of The Zebras, The Lucksmiths and Mid State Orange). The album will be released on Lost and Lonesome, with the launch on Saturday 18th October at The Gasometer with support from Machine Translations, Duke Batavia and Amarillo.
Japanese Wallpaper is the project of 17 year old Melbourne artist Gab Strum. His debut single "Breathe In (feat. Wafia)" was included in the soundtrack to Zac Braff's film Wish I Was Here, alongside tracks by Cat Power, Bon Iver and The Shins, amongst others. "Waves" features vocals by Pepa Knight (Jinja Safari). Japanese Wallpaper recently won this year's Triple J Unearthed High competition.
The new SBTRKT album Wonder Where We Land is due for release on 22nd September. Until then, we can enjoy the track "New Dorp. New York" which features Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig. The album will include guest appearances by Caroline Polacheck (a.k.a. Ramona Lisa), Jessie Ware, Warpaint, A$AP Ferg and many more.

Melbourne artist Bored Nothing (a.k.a. Fergus Miller) will release his second album on 24th October through Spunk (Australia and New Zealand) and 27th October via Caroline International (UK and Europe). Some Songs is the follow up to the 2012 self titled Bored Nothing album, and "Ice-Cream Dreams" is the first single from it.
British act Alt-J will release their second album This Is All Yours in late September. They've just been announced as headliners of this year's Falls Music and Arts Festival over the new Year period. Check out their clip for lead single "Hunger of the Pine" here.
Following their 2013 debut album Dear Departure, Melbourne duo Sweet Jean (Sime Nugent & Alice Keath) have just released a mini album called Greetings From Goodbye.
They'll launch the release with a duo show in Sydney on Thursday 14 August at the Folk Informal FBI Social, and full bands shows in Melbourne on Sunday 7th September at The Workers Club and Brisbane at Bigsound on Thursday 11 September. "Shit Pony Rides Again" comes from Too Physical, the new album by Beep. All members of Beep (Michael Coleman, Nate Brenner and Sam Ospovat) have played on tUnE-yArDs records at one time or another, with Brenner appearing in the current lineup of tUnE-yArDs that recently toured Australia.
"Melbourne vs Sydney" is the first single from Melbourne musician Dan Kelly's 4th album which is due out in early 2015. The single's artwork is by Melbourne musician and artist Bjenny Montero. Single launches are scheduled for Melbourne on Saturday 13th September at Howler with supports The Harpoons and Totally Mild and Sydney on Friday 26th September at Newtown Social Club with supports Richard In Your Mind and Fraser A Gorman.

Much loved Melbourne band Augie March will release their first album in six years on 3rd October. Havens Dumb will feature "Definitive History" along with first single "After The Crack Up". The band will play five shows at Howler from 29th October to 2nd November.
British producers Snakehips recently released "Days With You" which features Sinead Harnett. We're also particularly fond of their track "Forever" from a few months ago, which we've posted below.
"Wide Awake" comes from the forthcoming J Mascis record and features Cat Power. The Dinosaur Jr frontman's new album will be called Tied To A Star and is due out on 29th August through Sub Pop.
#1 Dads (formerly Dads) is the name that Tom Iansek from Big Scary has adopted for his solo project. "So Soldier" featuring Ainslie Wills comes from his forthcoming album About Face, which is due out on 8th August and follows his 2011 release Man of Leisure.

"Don't Marry The One You Love" is the second single from Melbourne musician Laura Jean's forthcoming album. The self titled release is due out on 22 August via Chapter Music. Listen to the stunning first single "First Love Song" here.
Lowtide's self titled debut album is out now through Lost and Lonesome and follows their 2011 7" Underneath Tonight and their 2010 EP You Are My Good Light.
