Tiny Ruins just released the second single to their forthcoming album Brightly Painted One which is due for release on 2nd May. NPR have premiered the new single "Ballad Of The Hanging Parcel". Listen here. Catch up with the first single "Me At The Museum, You At The Wintergardens" here.
Dave Graney's new album Fearful Wiggings is due for release on 2nd May. "Everything Was Legendary With Robert" is the first single. Catch Dave previewing the album on 2nd May at The Workers Club, Fitzroy.
In February Jazz Spastiks gave us the awesome hip hop track "Frequency" featuring Canadian MC Moka Only. The subsequent track from our favourite UK underground hip hop DJs and producers is "Move" featuring American MC Apani B Fly. The new Jazz Spastiks album is due out on 14th April.
New York act Woods are all set to release the follow up to their stunning 2012 release Bend Beyond. Check out the title track to With Light and With Love above. The album is due out April 15th on Woodsist. Listen to previous single "Leaves Like Glass" here.
Melbourne's Second Hand Heart are getting set for the release of their debut album Tides. They'll launch the album in Melbourne at Shebeen on May 24th, supported by Brother James and Zach Buchanan. "Damnesia" is their latest single. Check out the clip for their earlier single "Spending My Time" here.
Jack White recently claimed the title of "World's Fastest Released Record" by recording a live version of "Lazaretto" around 10am on Record Store Day on 19th April. He then mastered, pressed and sold the recording within 3 and half hours. All of this took place at Third Man Records in Nashville. The B-side was a cover of the Elvis track "Power of My Love" which was recorded at the same time. "Lazaretto" is the title track to White's forthcoming album, due for release on 10th June through Third Man Records/Columbia. Listen to previous track "High Ball Stepper" here.
"Without A Face" is the first track from Brooklyn-via-Melbourne duo Luluc's forthcoming album Passerby. The duo consists of Zoë Randell and Steve Hassett, and their album is due out July 11 through Mistletone/Inertia in Australia/New Zealand, and via Sub Pop on July 14 (Europe) and July 15 (North America).
Astronomy Class are a hip hop trio from Sydney consisting of Ozi Batla, Sir Robbo and Chasm. Their new album Mekong Delta Sunrise is due for release on 25th April. Check out their previous single "Astronomy For The Masses" here.
We've been loving "Dirty Bird" and "Mon Repos (Charlie's Jam)" for a while now and Melbourne four piece East Brunswick All Girls Choir have now released their new album Seven Drummers. Catch them live on 10th May at Northcote Social Club and on 6th June at The Corner Hotel, supporting Twin Beasts for their album launch.
"Turn Blue" is the second single from the forthcoming album of the same name by The Black Keys. The album is due out on 13th May. Check out the first single "Fever" here.
"Wait For A Minute" is the second single from the forthcoming tUnE-yArDs album Nikki Nack which is due out at the start of May. Listen to the first single "Water Fountain" here.
Sydneysider Ela Stiles plays in both Bushwalking and Songs and is about to release her debut solo album through Bedroom Suck. Its an a cappella record and will include 6 songs plus a 10 minute vocal drone piece (you can listen to part of the drone track here). If you haven't heard Bushwalking's excellent 2013 release No Enter, give it a listen. It featured in our Top 10 Australian Albums of 2013 list.
The Murlocs' debut album Loopholes is due for release on 17th April through Flightless/Remote Control and "Paranoid Joy" (above) is the first single from it. Check out their previous tracks "Rattle The Chain" and "Space Cadet" or catch them live: Thurs 17 April at Black Bear Lodge, Brisbane with The Babe Rainbow & Junkyard Diamonds; Sat 19 April at Factory Floor, Sydney with Spirit Valley & The Friendsters; and Fri 25 April at Howler, Brunswick with Teeth & Tongue and The Frowning Clouds.
