Amaya Laucirica - 5 Faves

Melbourne singer/songwriter Amaya Laucirica recently released her third album, Sway. It follows her 2008 debut Sugar Lights, and the follow up, Early Summer.

On the eve of her east coast tour, she stopped by to share with us her five favourite live shows from the last 10 years.
Spiritualized at The Metro, January 2009

A near religious experience - with gospel singers. Jason Pierce is a modern day Dennis/Brian Wilson.

Bonnie Prince Billy at The Corner Hotel, September 2004

One of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard live. He held the crowd in the palm of his hand for the entire show whilst he and his band looked like truckers!

The Necks  at The Corner Hotel, January 2007

I was nearly in tears for this show of free form improvisation. They started the show and took the audience with them on a near two hour journey delving into an array of landscapes and emotions only the Necks know how to do.

Deerhunter at Webster Hall (New York) October 2010

This show was just after the band had released Halcyon Digest. An album and show of glimmering pop, in jagged Deerhunter style.

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds at Melbourne Town Hall, May 2005

This show was part of the Abbatoir Blues tour. The band was on fire.
